Miami GP Race: who won last season
The Miami race was lively from the very first meters: Max Verstappen maintained the lead at the start, despite contact with Lando Norris in Turn 2, who went wide and lost positions. Shortly after, Doohan suffered a puncture after contact with Liam Lawson and was forced to retire, causing a Virtual Safety Car.
At the restart, Oscar Piastri overtook Antonelli to take second place, while Norris quickly fought back to third. Meanwhile, the possibility of rain emerged, which could have influenced strategies.
Piastri closed in on Verstappen and, using DRS, took the lead of the race after a mistake by the Dutchman. From that moment, the Australian set a very strong pace, extending his lead. Norris, meanwhile, overtook Verstappen to move into second place.
Behind them, Ferrari’s race was complicated: Leclerc remained stuck behind the Williams cars, while Hamilton managed to get into the points after overtaking Ocon. Alonso, on the other hand, made a mistake and spun.
In the second half of the race, a new Virtual Safety Car was deployed due to Bortoleto’s retirement, and several drivers pitted. Russell gained a position over Verstappen, while Albon overtook Antonelli. Then the first drops of rain arrived along with more retirements, including Bearman and Lawson.
In the closing stages, there was an intense internal duel at Ferrari: Leclerc overtook Sainz, then Hamilton passed both, but later gave the position back to the Monegasque following team instructions.
In the end, Oscar Piastri won the Miami GP, securing his fourth victory of the season, ahead of Norris. Russell finished third, while Verstappen came in fourth after trying to stay within 5 seconds of the Briton without success.
