Results and Race Report from the 2024 Qatar GP

The previous year’s Qatar Grand Prix (2024) turned into one of the most chaotic races of the season: yellow flags, Safety Car interventions, multiple restarts, and directional decisions that were difficult to interpret. Amidst this confused scenario, Max Verstappen once again emerged as the absolute benchmark.

Coming off a complicated Sprint Race where he had to settle for eighth place, the Dutchman started Sunday with a completely different mindset. As the lights went out, he decisively overtook Russell and imposed a pace that immediately isolated the leading group: only Lando Norris tried to follow him.

The challenge between the two remained open until a regulatory detail overturned everything. Norris, passing a neutralised section due to debris from Albon’s Williams, did not slow down sufficiently according to the stewards. Race control penalised him with a ten-second stop-and-go, an intervention that wiped out any chance of victory.

The beneficiaries of the plot twist were Ferrari. Charles Leclerc claimed second place, impeccable in managing pace and incidents. Oscar Piastri completed the podium, while Carlos Sainz had to settle for sixth: the Spaniard suffered a puncture caused by debris from Albon’s mirror, which compromised his ability to finish higher up.

Will rivals be able to stop Verstappen in this last, crucial Sprint of 2025?
