How Points are Awarded to F1 Constructors
The constructors’ standings take into account the points earned by both drivers of each team. Points are awarded to the top 10 drivers in each Grand Prix, according to the following scheme:
- 1st place: 25 points
- 2nd place: 18 points
- 3rd place: 15 points
- 4th place: 12 points
- 5th place: 10 points
- 6th place: 8 points
- 7th place: 6 points
- 8th place: 4 points
- 9th place: 2 points
- 10th place: 1 point
The points obtained by the two drivers of each team are added together to determine the total score of the constructor for that race. At the end of the season, the team with the highest number of points in the constructors’ standings is declared the winner of the constructors’ championship.
The constructors’ standings are extremely important for Formula 1 teams, as they determine the distribution of prize money at the end of the season. Teams with higher positions in the standings receive a larger share of Formula 1 revenues.
